Implementing a new integration

Netvisor offers an API that lets your service exchange data with Netvisor in both directions. This page explains how to build a new integration, how to join the Netvisor software partnership and how to use the test environment.

Integration process

Follow these steps to integrate your service with Netvisor or to build new business on top of it.

  1. Read the API documentation. Learn what the Netvisor API can do in Netvisor API in general.

  2. Read the best practices. The best practices give detailed steps for the most common integrations. These include sales invoices, HRM, working hours, purchase invoices and the import of external payment data.

  3. Order a test environment. Register as a partner with this form. We send the test credentials, the test access key and instructions to the email address you give in the form.

  4. Build and test the integration. Build and test your integration in the test environment. Partner support helps you with technical questions.

  5. Review the implementation (optional). If you want, you can discuss your implementation with a technical expert.

  6. Validate the integration. When your integration is ready, tell us with the validation form. We check your implementation. Then we send you the partner credentials for the production environment.

  7. Go live. Your integration is ready. You can now start using it in the Netvisor production environment.

Software partnership benefits

You can connect an external application to Netvisor with our Web Service API. The API lets you move data between the systems in both directions.

When you build an integration to Netvisor and join our software partnership, you get these benefits, among others:

  • Free access to the partner program and freedom to run your business

  • A well-documented API with clear instructions

  • Visibility on the marketplace

  • A community that supports your development and marketing

  • A growing customer base that is ready to use your service

Checklist for new partners

This checklist helps you test your integration quickly and move it to production with good quality. If you have problems, contact partner support.

Before you start

  1. Make sure that the Netvisor API supports the integration you plan to build. If you are not sure, ask partner support.

  2. Choose the partnership level that suits you best. The software partner material bank describes the levels and their benefits.

  3. Join as a partner with this form. Use the same form to order test credentials and a test environment. We send the credentials and instructions to the email address you give in the form. If you choose the Partner level, we also send you an agreement to sign with Visma Sign.

Set up and test

  1. Log in to Netvisor and explore the test environment. You can change the default settings and services if needed.

  2. Create API identifiers for the integration. Then allow access rights to the API resources that the integration uses.

  3. Learn how authentication works in the Netvisor API. Read the API authentication guide.

  4. Send a request to the get customer list resource (customerlist.nv). A successful response shows that your MAC calculation is correct and that authentication works.

  5. Test your implementation thoroughly.

Validate the integration

  1. Fill in the validation form. The form asks for more details about how your integration works.

  2. Partner support validates your integration. Then we send you the partner credentials and the access key for the production environment.

Enable the integration for a customer

To use the integration in a customer's Netvisor, complete these steps with the customer:

  1. The customer creates API identifiers as described in API identifiers and gives them to you.

  2. The customer activates the API service (software interface service) in Netvisor.

  3. You give the customer the access key that you got from partner support.

  4. The customer uses the access key to add the integration in the Customized integrations view.

  5. The customer allows the integration in the Rights of interface resources view. Read more in Rights of API resources.

Test environment

The test environment is the same as the Netvisor training environment. They are one and the same environment, not two separate options. Log in at http://koulutus.netvisor.fi/ with your own Netvisor credentials.

Test data is created in your test environment automatically. If you need more data, you can add it by hand in the user interface. You can also import customers, products and vouchers as CSV files with Netvisor's own import tools.

During testing, pay special attention to performance and information security.

Do not test in production

The production environment is not for testing. Test all new features and changes in the test environment before you move them to production. Do not use real or sensitive data in the test environment.
